live, this is kron 4 news at 11:00. delays at sfo because of it fog. this is the bridge. 5:00 p.m. today. hidden behinds a curtain of fog. now live that bridge. you can see the fog is gone. traffic light. the skies are clear. now live to kron 4's reggie kumar who has been tracking the delays at sfo caused by the fog. how is it looking? >> reporter: i spoke with the manager here at sfo, the faa finally lifted the ground delay program an hour and a half ago. that means west coast flights

will start arriving on time but east coast flights are still late. >> reporter: delay after delay. some flights arriving and departing were nearly three hours behind schedule because of heavy fog. leaving passengers frustrated. this woman was already supposed to be on a flight but it was delayed two hours. they decided to play cards to pass the time. >> i was upset because nobody told me and i didn't call first. and it's a long wait. >> reporter: he and his family are trying to get to los angeles. final destination nepal. >> an hour delay. we have a connecting international flight but it's much later than our arrival. ultimately it's safety that counts so we are willing to be

prudent. >> flight was delayed due to fog coming into san francisco. we had to circle around a couple times. >> reporter: was that frustrating? >> yeah. >> when i checked tin was an hour late, 45 minutes. >> reporter: frustrating? >> no, not really. i had a great vacation so no rush to get home. >> reporter: depending on the weather, sfo says all flights should be on schedule tomorrow. but officials rem passengers contact their airline carrier before heading to sfo. live at sfo, reggie kumar, kron 4 news. keeping on the subject of the fog and clouds, you can see we have fog down the peninsula, as well as parts of the south bay right now. look at this, 3:00 a.m., widespread low cloud cover as well as fog and we will see

partial mixing out by 6:00 a.m. and by 9:00 we will see clearing. as for the overnight lowes, near freezing in santa rosa and fairfield, 33 degrees. mid-30s for napa. 36 redwood city. and upper 40s for the south bay. we also might have rain in the forecast. i will tell you about it coming up. new at 11:00, no more plastic bag in san jose starting this sunday. but this is not just that supermarket. as kron 4's kate thompson explain, shoppers have to bring their own bags to the mall. >> reporter: the crowds are huge and they are there to shop. carrying bags, lots of them, filled. and people don't seem too happy about the plastic bag ban that starts january 1. >> stupid. >> hassle.

application is january 15. we put a link on our website, www.kron.com. investigators are not sure what sparked a fire in san leandro. it killed a woman and her two dogs. it started at 7:00 a.m. firefighters arrived to the home, firefighters got the woman out, performed cpr but it was too late. the home had smoke detector but were not working. woman threw her toddler out of a second story window. the child survived and is recovering. the mother lupita cortez caused the child, and then jumped herself. police say she has a history of mental illness. coming up on kron 4 news at 11:00. how a winery is having an effect on the fight against
